HAND HELD JUICER

This project was meant to bring everything we have learned from our previous form studies and design a product that coincided with one of the following actions; "whisk", "stir", "scrape", "scoop", "store", or "drink".  All of which needed to be documented through sketches, writing, photos, diagrams, storyboards and study models.

The rotational form project heavily influenced the design of this first product project.  I decided to design a hand held juicer, using the action "scrape".  My main goal was to design a kitchen tool that was sculptural enough to be left out on a counter and blend in with the surrounding appliances.  The juicer is aimed to be used by upper middle class families, the suburban mom who wants the a interesting conversational peice.

I stepped away from the handle design for a few reasons.  One, its been done before and two, gripping the handle breaks the natural rotating axis in the wrist and hand.  This motion is unnatural and makes using the tool inefficient.  The final design follows the curves of the palm, and acts as an extention of the hand.
